Roller and GPL

The email linked from here suggests that we'll have to remove any GPL jars from Roller. Or get a release from the authors of any GPL jars we're using. It isn't quite as clear on LGPL - which covers the Ekit editor, Flock and the Jazzy spellchecker. The opinion expressed in the email suggests that LGPL isn't viral.

Everything else seems to be in the clear (BSD/Apache style licenses). MySQL is GPL, but this would seem to be an even more tenuous bind.

Argh, I'm Infected!

With the current project at work of moving to Weblogic 7 necessitating moving a data repository to LDAP a new library was needed. I took this opportunity to teach myself the use of JUnit, and now I'm hooked!

MS Third Degree

Oops, meant Three Degrees. Neat idea (I have a 10 year old, who asked me yesterday for her own blog), and given the libraries already existant in Java it looks pretty easy to replicate.
What's the proper format for a TrackBack link, this one returns an error?

Re: Who reads them anyways....

Amazing, I would consider this a prerequisite - though I have to admit that I've been having trouble finding time to read the latest specs. I've read all the earlier Servlet/JSP specs. There is a lot in there, and I've found understanding the container requirements has helped solve some thorny problems.

Searchable Weblog

Via James Strachan, a way for FreeRoller users (and others) to get their own search engine. While Search is definately on the Feature List for Roller, it hasn't been an itch anyone has wanted to scratch (apparently). I keep thinking about it, but it just isn't a priority for me (and I'm hoping someone with real experience with Lucene will step up to the plate).

Roller comments broken?

Dave notes that the comment feature is broken on his site (and maybe in CVS). Mine is working fine, even on my "test" site (which is pretty close to CVS, last build the evening of Feb 6, 03). Have you been working on anything else that could have impacted it Dave?

Jakarta Commons Cache

Just so ya'll don't think I've a one-track-mind, I've contributed a Digester-based configuration mechanism to Commons Cache, which is used in Roller (damn, it is one-tracked) and I've used in a previous life/job. This is my little part in helping Cache get promoted to the Commons proper ;-)
