New Roller Plugin I've implemented the ReadMore functionality as a Plugin for Roller. I haven't deployed the new Plugin stuff to Brainopolis yet, so you cannot see it in action. Here is an excerpt from my checkin:
Other Plugins I'm considering: a VelocityPlugin (entry specific macros), a "HotWords" plugin (dependent on a facility to define hotwords, and another which escapes me at the moment. ;-) Later: I forgot to mention that to use it on a pre-existing blog you will need to replace $entry.text with #showEntryText($entry) in your _day Page. "New" Roller functionality For quite some time now, Roller has had integration with JSPWiki. Using this integration required stepping through some hoops and a good understanding of how Roller uses Velocity (in my opinion). Little known as that may be, it also had the ability to render entries through Textile4J, using the same mechanism as that for JSPWiki. This week I've been working on making the plugins more configurable (not hardcoded), and the use of the plugins more automatic. I just finished checking all that in! Yeah! There is more work to do for the user interface, namely spelling out what options the user has depending on which plugins are loaded... I'll tackle that later, time to get back to the family. Pro JSP, 3rd Edition Forgive me Father, for it has been almost a month since I last blogged. Today I received a copy of Pro JSP from Matt Raible - autographed even! Thanks Matt, for sharing with me. Reading the authors' notes, I was gratified to receive a "shout out" from Dave Johnson as well. What swell guys I hooked up with on the Roller project. Re: atom is atom is atom Thank you, Diego, for pointing this out (somehow I never saw the atom-syntax list before). What a relief that something is happening again. Though while reading it occurred to me that Atom/Pie/Echo makes it's own fine acryonym (I know, they are forbidden): APE. Has that been suggested already? Not Atom The project formerly known as Pie/Echo/Atom is undergoing another Final Name Vote. Jump into the scrum and voice your opinion - even if you don't have one! It's so good to be bad Within the last 24 hours I've seen two excellent writeups on how/what the author learned from failure. Good stuff, inspiring in fact. Re: The offshoring debate Thanks to Rafe for the link to this article. Coming soon to an office near you ... I hope ... if you live or work in the Twin Cities MN area. That is to say, my current contract will be ending on the 24th and I'm on the hunt for gainful employment. If you are hiring, or know anyone who is, please contact me at lance AT brainopolis.com. |
